What Happened to Good Looking Radios?

Twenty years ago or so, I got into collecting antique radios. Every weekend I hit the yard sales and flea markets looking for radios from the 30’s and 40’s. After a few years, they got much too hard to find, so I lost interest. I still kept a few dozen, though.

The main thing that I find attractive about these radios is the fantastic design each has. Nowadays, everything is a featureless box. Back then, each manufacturer had its own distinctive look. Fada, Detrola, Crosley, Atwater Kent, Stromberg Carlson, Zenith, all had amazing industrial designers.
