As the presidential candidates begin their final week of campaigning, let’s take a break from all the rhetoric and enjoy some nice nonlinear inequalities. Linear inequalities are fairly straightforward: solve for x and make sure you switch the direction of the inequality if you multiply or divide by a negative term. Nonlinear inequalities are trickier: you need to completely factor the expression, so you can build a sign chart on the number line. Confused?
